Coaching The Body® Fundamentals
Clinical Thai Bodywork Level 1
with Doug Ringwald
March 13-15, 2026
Friday 6pm-9pm
Saturday 9am-6pm
Sunday 9am-6pm
This fantastic course is a fun and dynamic introduction to the techniques of Coaching The Body® and clinically-oriented Thai bodywork. You will be amazed at what you learn in a weekend as we teach you the critical fundamentals of body mechanics, positioning, compression, working with passive stretches, a key set of techniques based on Thai massage, an intro to concepts of clinical work, trigger point concepts, and much more.
This intensive training is suitable for new students or practitioners seeking an alternative modality. You will learn a valuable 1.5-hour professional sequence that you can immediately put to use with clients, friends and family. The focus of this training is to instill principles of full-body movement through carefully refined teaching methods that have helped thousands of students learn this fantastic art.
The techniques that we teach in Level 1 are not “beginner” in the sense that they are sophisticated and powerful techniques that the student will continue to master through practice. These are techniques that the therapist will use throughout their bodywork career. We teach basic principles of western muscular anatomy, trigger point therapy and patterns of referred pain to provide the student with a much deeper diagnostic framework for client issues.
We present the ideas behind our Coaching the Body® protocols, a powerful therapeutic system that is explored more fully in advanced courses
We place a strong emphasis upon body mechanics and practicing bodywork in a sustainable way. Many western practitioners experience symptoms of occupational disability in hands, shoulders and arms due to reliance upon muscular strength and a failure to understand the power of working from the core.
We use martial arts and yoga principles to teach the student how to move in an efficient, elegant and powerful way. With strong fundamentals, Coaching The Body® can be not only safe but beneficial for the practitioner, and will provide a deeply satisfying career that lasts many decades.
This Level 1 training is taught by Doug Ringwald, a CTB and Clinical Thai Bodywork Master Practitioner who has been teaching at CTB Institute and developing the programs since 2014.
Along with the in-person course, you will receive an online course that will take you through the techniques you learned in class, breaking down the sequences from a more clinical lens.
This course provides the student with a 17-hour certificate upon successful completion, and is approved by NCBTMB for continuing education in massage.
EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT $590/$650 after February 15, 2026
Limited space.

The Chinese Year of the Yin Wood Snake (4723)
with Jan SteGermaine, BA, MSOM, Dipl OM, ABT (NCCAOM), LAc MO Saturday, November 22nd 2pm-4pm Do ancient concepts like yin and yang have relevance in modern daily life? How might the animal associated with your birth year, the one you see on the placemat at a Chinese restaurant, actually reflect patterns in your personality or your experiences? As we move through the final months of the Yin Wood Snake year (4723), Jan SteGermaine invites you to explore these timeless ideas through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Together, we’ll examine the dynamic interplay of yin and yang and the Five Elements: Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, and Metal, and how they shape both the natural world and our inner landscape. By weaving in the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac, Jan will help you uncover patterns that connect individual, societal, and global energies. We’ll reflect on past Yin Wood Snake years (1965 and 1905) to gain insight into the energetic themes influencing this moment and what might be on the horizon as we transition into the Yang Fire Horse year beginning February 17, 2026. Come discover how these ancient principles can offer guidance, perspective, and a sense of harmony in modern life. $40 Public | $32 Members Reserve your spot online today. Limited space. |

Mental & Emotional Wellness
Nearly all of us undergo seasons in our life where it is hard to recognize what is truly going on, to accept reality and to enter a process of letting go. In these moments, “choice” is clouded because the path ahead seems blurry and confusing. We feel lost, misunderstood and perhaps completely alone. There is a clear relationship between our wounds and our awakening. In these times it is essential to look into the beliefs and identities that are framing our reality, to listen to the wisdom of memories and dreams, and enter into a dialogue with the unconscious and the divided parts of self. These private sessions offer a safe space and a mirroring presence to dive into the unseen corners of your experience. |
Inner Quest sessions facilitate an internal dialogue for those “fork in the road” moments in life. Private sessions are designed to shift your awareness from confusion to clarity. This method is based on an effective method of reflective listening called Conscious Communication first used at Kripalu Center in MA. Inner Quest draws inspiration from IFS Technique and the work of Bessel van der Kolk.
Together we explore the seeming incongruities within different parts of your being. I provide you with tools for self-inquiry, discernment and non-judgmental integration. Clarity, creativity and your Inner Wisdom can reside in the shadows until we are truly heard. Bring your entire self. Journaling your thoughts, feelings and emotions before your Inner Quest guide session can be helpful, but you won’t have to read to me your inquiries. One of the greatest gifts you can give yourself is undivided attention. |
