6-Week Series
Yoga for Scoliosis
6-week series September 14th-October 26th (no class 10/5) Saturdays 11am Yoga for Scoliosis was developed specifically for those living with Scoliosis and is based on the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar, who developed a therapeutic approach to the practice of yoga. There are six key components of Yoga for Scoliosis: 1) Breath Awareness, 2) Lengthening the Spine, 3) Strengthening, 4) De-rotating, 5) Re-aligning Posture, and 6) Defying Gravity and Centering the Spine. In this series, students will become familiar with the "tools" that can be helpful in developing a yoga practice that is specific to their unique curve pattern. Professionals that work with those who live with scoliosis may find this series informative and helpful, as well. While the focus of each session will be one of the six key components of Yoga for Scoliosis, students will also be exploring the other five components. 6-week series $150 Limited to 6. Create space in the body & mind and explore the therapeutic benefits of the Great Yoga Wall! It provides stability to the beginner for teaching alignment, supports connective tissue health with gentle traction & gravity, and opens the seasoned practitioner to familiar poses with a new perspective and a deeper sense of awareness. Connective tissue health plays a vital role in healthy aging, posture and pain-free movement. The fascia is also integral in our immune and inflammatory responses. Mat PilatesMonday 830am
This low-impact workout will help improve your flexibility, balance and core strength; the variety of exercises will increase your range of motion and your posture. It is easy on your joints and a great option for those recovering from injuries. This class focuses on a series of exercises using your own body weight and gravity as resistance, targeting different areas of your body, including the abs, back, hips and legs (props may be used m: Magic Circle, Bands, Squeeze Ball). Hatha FlowMonday 10am & 530pm
Wednesday 10am Sunday 10am This dynamic class promotes a natural progression of postural strength, coordinated movement and nervous system resiliency. Hatha Flow focuses on learning yoga postures from the ground up, cultivating the balance of stability and flexibility with breath awareness. Through mind-body connection cues and experiences, students will find their own edge between effort and ease. Props will be used to support alignment, allow for deeper opening and to expand inner awareness. No yoga experience necessary. Beginners welcome. Modifications provided. |
Pain Care Yoga Therapy (Gentle)Tuesday 9am
Guided by our Certified Yoga Therapist, this small group class is designed to support those that suffer from pain. This specialized class uses gentle somatic awareness movement, yoga postures, soothing breathwork, mindfulness, guided imagery, pain education and pain reprocessing techniques informed by yoga therapy, Ayurveda, polyvagal theory and modern pain science. Yoga props and therapy balls will be skillfully applied to provide a supportive, relaxing and rejuvenating experience. Chairs are available, as needed. Personal attention will be given to renew and restore an experience of lightness and ease in the body and mind. T’ai Chi Chih®: Moving MeditationTuesdays 1030am
T’ai Chi Chih® is a set of movements completely focused on the development of an intrinsic energy called Chi. T’ai Chi Chih (TCC) consists of 19 stand-alone movements and one pose. T’ai Chi Chih is not a martial art, it is a moving meditation practice. You will be guided through a sequence of soft & dynamic yoga poses, somatic movement, myofascial self-care, breathwork & a meditation, giving personal attention for assists & therapeutic modifications. Each class is designed around a specific therapeutic focus to support pain-free movement, joint health, posture & preventative health. Thursday 630am Start your day with this class connecting Body with Breath. Enjoy a slower paced class that begins with a bit of warming vinyasa, moves to longer holds, and then settles into deep relaxation. Perfect for beginners and intermediates that want to build strength and gain flexibility. This class is intended to move stagnant energy and leave you feeling refreshed and balanced. |
Yin Restorative (Gentle)Wednesday 6pm
This blended class of the soft styles of yoga is designed with pain care in mind to support healing and deep rest by focusing on calming the stress response. Our teacher guides you into effortless & grounding yoga poses with calming breathwork & guided meditation. The Yin & restorative yoga poses rejuvenate the fascia (connective tissues), support immunity, opens the breath, frees up energy and cultivates inner awareness (interoception). Personal attention is given for support & therapeutic modifications. This class is beneficial to all students. |
Monthly Baby & Me YogaFirst Mondays 12pm
This is a special monthly class dedicated to mothers and their infants. (Grandmothers, too!) Our babies are held and nourished in the safety of our bodies during pregnancy, and afterwards continue to be part of our energetic or auric fields. During their infancy, they rely on us for everything including support in the development of their nervous systems. This class is meant to be a space where mothers can relax, move, breathe & connect with other mamas and babies, and where babes can grow, develop, explore the world, and receive the benefits of mama’s mindfulness practice. Come as you are and relax knowing this is a space for you and your child. Class flow will include some form of guided movement, meditation, breathing practice and music. Monthly OmProvEvery 1st Saturday
12pm-130pm Creative expression remains a strong pillars of human transformation in its capacity to reveal Truth and deliver its power into the hearts of the participants. OmProv (improvisational theatre and creative expression) is a 90-minutes exploratory space to move, breathe, explore what wants to be felt and known in your experience. In Omprov you will be introduced to simple games that awaken presence, aliveness and a sense of inter-connectedness with the group. You will be introduced to a movement technique, and a creative expression technique. In some OmProv sessions we will paint and explore the inner world through art, in others we will read from a text: poetry, play reading or other material and will explore its symbolic meaning in your own life and the collective world. These monthly OmProv sessions are great for when you are feeling un-inspired and want to spark creativity and find a new way of moving through life. OmProv is a laboratory for presence informed by Prema’s studies with Shunyamurti at the Sat Yoga Ashram, the work of Rudolf Laban in character development and the research of doctor Bessel van Der Kolk in how play, art and drama can support a transformational process. Yoga Nidra is the practice of Yogic Sleep. In this 60 minute class we will use guided meditation and conscious relaxation tools to rejuvenate and come into a deeper state of peace, harmony, and bliss. This class allows for you to lay down and get comfortable while focusing your full attention on different parts of the body and guided visualizations, infused with Reiki Energy Healing. Self-Awakening Yoga (Gentle)TBA
Whether new to yoga, a seasoned practitioner, teacher, or healing professional, Self-Awakening Yoga is a movement practice layered with mindfulness techniques aimed at accessing interoceptive awareness (inner felt sense). The Self-Awakening Yoga methodology balances experiential learning with progressive sequences of natural movement that have sometimes not been felt since childhood. In this practice, the depth a students body-based wisdom is allowed new space for expression. By traveling to the place where the urge to move originates, Self-Awakening Yoga hones the capacity for intuitive knowing through the language of sensation. |
Yoga en EspañolTBA
Una clase de 60 minutos guiada completamente en español. Los movimientos de bajo impacto en esta clase son accesibles y efectivos, diseñados para el desarrollo de la consciencia corporal, la relajación y el auto-conocimiento. Esta clase incorpora elementos terapéuticos de Vinyasa yoga, mindfulness y meditación. Todos son bienvenidos, principiantes y avanzados, tanto quienes hablan español con fluidez, así como quienes quieren practicar un nuevo idioma. La clase será completamente en español. Prema es educadora de movimiento y consciencia, costarricense y su lengua materna es el español. A low impact class taught in Spanish.
